Albania is looking for ways to reconcile tourism growth and the preservation of vulnerable areas in coastal zones. To achieve this, IUCN-Med, Intrepid Travel, and the MEET Network have created an eco tour that will allow international visitors to discover the hidden natural gems of the country.
The eco-tour will include natural sites such as Shalë River, the Vlora Bay or the Divjaka-Karavasta National Park.
The ecotourism itinerary, offered exclusively during the shoulder season, follows a standard that ensures a socio-economic positive impact both for local communities and natural ecosystems.
The project is a way to reconcile conservation and tourism policy goals and enhances the value of protected areas.
MEET is a network of Mediterranean protected areas that works with local tourism stakeholders to design sustainable, high-quality ecotourism experiences.
