SAF a priority for WTTC

Updated: Mar 11

  • World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) calls for urgent government action to incentivize Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production and set ambitious targets.

  • Without sufficient quantities of SAF, the aviation sector cannot achieve its commitment to reach Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.

  • The industry aims to reduce emissions through SAF, innovative propulsion technologies, fuel-efficient aircraft fleets, operational efficiency improvements, and offsetting or carbon capture.

  • SAF production rates are insufficient to meet demand, and prices remain high, hindering progress in decarbonization.

  • WTTC urges governments to provide incentives for SAF production, set targets, and coordinate actions through ICAO to ensure global uniformity in regulations and sustainability standards.
