Dato’ Haji Sahariman bin Haji Hamdan, a former rubber tapper, launched a homestay program in Malaysia in 1995, starting with his own house. With government support, it expanded to 162 houses across 151 villages, offering cultural experiences like rubber tapping and fishing. The program, involving family participation and promoting village tourism, has significantly increased revenue and occupancy rates, benefiting the local community economically. Sahariman plans to expand this successful model to cities and beach areas.
