Boeing has launched the SAF Dashboard, a tool to track SAF production capacity and visualize forecast SAF use relative to total jet fuel consumption.
The SAF Dashboard is part of Boeing's efforts to address the climate impact of aviation and promote the use of SAF as the greatest contributor to reducing carbon emissions in the coming years.
SAF is produced from sustainable resources and can result in up to 85% lifecycle GHG emissions reductions compared to conventional fuels.
Challenges in increasing SAF use include limited supply and higher prices compared to fossil-based fuels.
The dashboard uses data from BloombergNEF to collate global SAF capacity announcements and provides various functionalities, such as filtering by country, viewing production changes and capacity announcements, and setting assumptions about capacity utilization.
The dashboard also includes an SAF vs. Jet Fuel Consumption Map, showing the percentage of SAF used relative to total jet fuel consumption by region and year.
Boeing's Chief Sustainability Officer highlights SAF's potential to decarbonize aviation and the industry's collaboration in increasing SAF production for a more sustainable future.
