Since tourism is the most significant part of SIDS's economy, the need of sustainable practices in this islands is needed to have the least effects on their ecosystems.
Tourism on one hand can affect island ecosystems and cultural authenticity and on th eother create jobs and promote foreign investments.
Some of the challenges in SIDS are limited resources, sensitive natural environments, vulnerability to climate change, and distance from external markets
Sustainable Travel International has an initiative to aid SIDS.
